Doggy Style Bakery, Boutique & Pet Spa opened in 2002 in the Dupont Circle neighborhood.

Krista Heinz opened the store with one goal: to provide a local alternative to big-box pet stores. Her investment in our community and support for pets, and their owners, are the driving force behind her business. Customers at Doggy Style know firsthand her personal commitment to providing top-quality products, advice and community resources for all pet owners. Her longstanding work with groups like the Humane Rescue Alliance and other community-focused organizations in the area is an important part of that commitment.

Krista not only has the title of owner at Doggy Style, but she’s also the baker and ice cream maker, designing and baking the home-made doggy treats, birthday cakes and the store’s doggy ice cream, Mutt Licks. She also personally selects the store’s products to ensure they meet the quality standards she set when opening the store 17 years ago.

She demonstrates her compassion for animals every day when caring for her four rescued dogs – Keida, Mia, Bacon and Koda.
